| Re: Reserved slots (22nd Apr 12 at 10:52am UTC) | | Well this deffo works, both Rocco and myself skipped the queue to join straight in. YAY. I've added a few more of the Platoon to the list and should have the complete roster done by Monday ready for B2K night. Still need to workout how its getting us into the server. I know it kicks a player from the server to make space, I'm just not sure how it negotiates the queue traffic, ie does it skip them or dump them?!? Either way we are on the only GSP who has this version of R21 | |

Sad news for Battlefield 3... Is it the only option? I mean can this system just place "VIP" person to the 1st place in query and not sacrifice some poor ingame soul? I hate necromancy.

I think there is a fine line between skipping through the query into the server or kicking out some non-regulars that it makes little difference to in order to make room for regulars/platoon members and kicking out a bunch of people who were enjoying their game/being good players just because we're platoon members and they're not.
But, I think it's fine, just gotta be wary of that balance.

Pinkythings thats the whole point of a reserved slot. You have a place saved on the server for anytime you want to play, even if its full.
I'm not sure on how they have coded it, yet. There will only be a max of upto 64 places anyway since anymore would have the potential of dropping reserved slot players for other reserved slots and would become a silly game of 'round robin'.
If there is a way of controling who it kicks then the fairest way will be chosen.
Knowing DICE it will be MVP1 or something stupid

| Re: Reserved slots (25th Apr 12 at 4:16pm UTC) | | Until we get R22++++ with working reserved slots all we can do is speculate. Like a fool I just got excited about them and set them to active for all the Platoon members we have bar a few inactives.
What I should have done is kept an eye on Procon when I connected and there was a queue to see how it used the dark arts to sacrifice the n00b soul from the server who's place I was taking. But I didn't
Though the way it works may change by the time they activate them for us. I would like to think it will be intelligently done so that more than 64 VIP slots can be allocated, but untill there is some solid info on it all we can do is speculate.
